wtf
While playing Call of Duty: Warzone, Miami Heat center Meyers Leonard called someone a "k*** b****' on stream, in reaction to a enemy sniper.
He has since been suspended indefinitely by the Miami Heat and has been dropped by his two gaming sponsors.
Leonard later issued an apology, though it looks like the damage has already been done.

Meyers Leonard of the Miami Heat might be heading toward an early retirement, after using an anti-semitic slur while live-streaming Call of Duty: Warzone. The clip, which is embedded down below, paints Leonard as not just a poor gamer, but a poor person as well. -

Leonard issued this apology after a video of him using the phrase surfaced. In his defense, he claimed ignorance about the term's history and "how offensive it is to the Jewish community". Which you can believe if you want, but I am not an idiot and so I won't. I believe he's well aware of what the word "kike" means and nothing in his apology shows any sign of self-reflection, or ownership. "Know my future action will be more powerful than my use of that word", sounds like, I am more than an antisemite, I'm a second rate NBA player as well. -

Leonard has been put on leave indefinitely, pending further investigation. The Miami Heat are owned by the Israeli-American businessman Micky Arison, so you can bet this is not just a publicity stunt for the sake of good press. -

In addition, Leonard has begun to lose his sponsors. ScufGaming a customizable controller company tweeted out this message yesterday confirming they had severed all ties with Leondard. -

And a message from Origin PC. -

The response is about what you'd expect. Many celebs and athletes speaking, rather reaching out on social media. Here Patriots WR and Jewish person Julian Edleman tweets an open letter to Leonard. -

Most of the takes and opinions are not worth it, nor are people like Leonard. Is being a millionaire NBA player, not enough? You also want to be a streamer? Well, maybe it's best to just be a good person. And according to this chump, he knows enough about racism to know when and where he can support it. -
